Word to the wise, Repent!

Inspired by Eugene Peterson's work on the book of Jeremiah

I brought you into a beautiful garden, a land where you could eat your fill of lush fruit.
I made you a people, as none other before you. I have blessed you, protected you, and crowned your efforts with great success for the sake of your faith and the faith of your fathers before you. You say:  .
“Is not this America, the greatest land of all which we have made with our own hands? Have we not built this land by our own wisdom and by our own might? Who has ever been greater? Who can stand before us? America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.”
You have polluted my land. You have trashed and defiled my dear land, which I gave to you as an inheritance for your children and grandchildren that they might worship me in the freedom of prosperity. That you might know and love me. That I would be your God, and you would be my people, the people of my love and grace.
Your university chancellors never even thought to ask, “Is there a God?”
Your religious consiglieres know nothing of me, but say, “Look to us, we know God”
Your rulers openly defy me, denying me my rightful place in the lives of my people.
Your mothers have taken to the streets, shouting abortion to 60 million of my children.
Your congress through legislation, and courts through unjust decisions, have destroyed the
foundational biblical values, ethics, and morality of this nation by redefining:

The Basis of Law.
The Origin of Life.
The Definition of Life.
The Definition of Murder.
The Definition of Morality.
The Definition of Marriage.
The Definition of Biological Gender.
The Definition of The Right of Parents.
The Definition of The Right of Public Worship.
The Definition of America as No Longer a Christian Nation.
The Definition of The Original Intent of Our Founding Fathers.
The Definition of The Right of Sincerely Held Religious Convictions.
Because of this, I have brought charges against you. I, your Creator, have charged you and your children and your grandchildren with cosmic treason. With rebellious evil. With wickedness in your stewardship of the abundance which I have blessed you with.
I’ve wasted my time trying to encourage you to train up your children in the way of life. Since you have paid no attention to me, ignored my warnings and discipline, you will die in your sin, having nothing to eat but the bitter fruit of your own foolish choices.
Day after day after day they never give me a thought, but in their affliction, they will seek me early.
What a generation you turned out to be! Didn’t I tell you, plead with you, warn you?
Am I nothing but a dead-end street? A clanging cymbal and sounding brass to you?
Why did you say, “Good riddance! We have cast off our chains! We’re free at last!”
Seems I have heard “We will not have this man to reign over us” before.
What an impressive start. You founded Christian schools and universities; that today teach graduate courses in evil! You’re sending out graduates, resplendent in cap and gown, except their gowns are stained with the blood of your children and sin.
The blood convicts you. Yet, you have the gall to say, “We’ve done nothing wrong.God doesn’t mind. He won’t punish us?” Fools, your day of reckoning is coming.
Don’t look now, but judgment is on the way. In fact, to those with judgment, it’s here.
Don’t believe me? Look around. Have you ever seen anything quite like this generation? Since 70 A.D. I have not. You can stand there in shock and awe at what you see, or just throw up your hands in disbelief—crying out  “This can’t be happening! Please! God forbid it!”  But it is.  Repent and trust Christ.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.   John 3:16-17

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.   2 Chronicles 7:14
